<div itemprop="description">PARSONS, Brian James <br>1965 – 2016 <br> <br>After battling ALS for three years Brian James Parsons passed away in his sleep with his wife Susan by his side, on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at the age of 50. <br> <br>Loving husband of Susan Robbins Parsons for 22 years. Devoted father of Sean Parsons and Emily Parsons. Devoted son of Bernard and Glenys Parsons. Beloved brother of Michelle Fehr, Jennifer Parsons and Allan Parsons and brother in law of Kathryn Lever (Christopher Lever) and Jo Anne Lancia (Michael Lancia). Brian will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. <br> <br>Brian graduated high school from The Gow School and achieved a Bachelors of Arts degree from The University of Western Ontario where he met his future wife Susan. Brian worked for several years as a political staffer on parliament hill and as a sales person for Mediamiser until he was diagnosed with ALS. He was active in politics and his community and an avid supporter of the Liberal Party. Brian loved music, especially U2. Brian enjoyed spending time with his family in New York, Great Britain and British Columbia and loved travelling with his friends and family. <br> <br>Brian was an incredible advocate for ALS Canada, helping to change the Compassionate Care Benefit from 6 weeks to 26 weeks. He and his team raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support services for people living with ALS and research. Brian's conviction and the way he chose to live his live in the face of a terminal diagnosis have been an inspiration to many people. The way Brian signed every email off with CARPE DIEM, inspired the ALS Awareness Campaign for this year as he challenged all of us to live bigger and make a difference with whatever time we have available to us. <br> <br>Friends may pay respects at <br>Kelly Funeral Home – Kanata Chapel <br>580 Eagleson Rd. <br>613-591-6580 <br>from 5:00 – 8:00pm on Monday, June 13, 2016. <br>A private Memorial Service for Brian will be celebrated by his immediate family. <br>In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Team Parsons ALS Canada Walk are appreciated. <br></div>
