Robert 'Bob' LaFontaine
October 24, 1930 - February 9, 2017
LaFontaine Robert (Bob) Joseph
1930-2017
A life well lived, passed away quietly February 9, 2017 in his 87th year. Much loved husband of Marina (nee Fitzpatrick) of 63 years. Loving father of Suzanne, Karen (Todd Finch), Renee (Clyde Marston), Todd (Marisa Fosco) and Michael. Bob is predeceased by his parents, four sisters, two brothers and his son Glen. Cherished Poppy of Kendra, Jordan, Dylan, Nicholas, William, Glenn, Skylar, Cameron, Luca, Dante, Gianni and step grandchildren; Morgan, Riley and MacKenzie. A longtime resident of Pembroke, Bob enjoyed a full life that included a great passion for the outdoors, flying his Cessna, travelling and skiing. Bob and Marina spent many vacations in Europe and particularly Kitzbuhel, Austria with loyal friends from around the world. His love of family, all things mechanical, engineering and design as well as the theory of flight, combined with his appreciation of nature kept him active and thankful for his very full life despite a failing body in his final years. Whether reciting Robert Service poetry, entertaining his friends with stories after a day of skiing or loading his floatplane for takeoff, his passion for life remained. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews and wide circle of friends. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Chartwells’, Kanata.
